The perfume house Jacomo was founded in the late 60s.

The story begins with the musician Gérard Courtin, who after having had an accident found himself no longer able to play the piano. He resolved to travel the world and find a new way to create beauty. He met James Kaplan in New York, who like himself had a great love of art, music and design. Together they created the fashion label Jacomo using “Ja” from James and “Co” from Courtin. They opened a boutique in order to present their designs to New York trendsetters.

Their first two perfumes, which came out in 1970 and 1971, became well known due to their innovative flacons and powerful scents. The brand Jacomo was extremely well loved and achieved international success. In 1978 and 1980, the cherished, classic fragrances Silences and Jacomo de Jacomo came onto the market.
