Born in Paris in 1935, Scherrer had originally aspired to a career as a dancer, but had to give up his plans after an accident. Instead, he became a fashion designer. Scherrer began his fashion career in the 1950s with Christian Dior and later with Yves Saint Laurent. In 1962 he founded his own label and opened his own boutique in the middle of the fashion district on the elegant Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. He was the darling of the Parisian fashion upper class, famous abroad and winner of the prestigious “Dé d’Or” Haute Couture Prize. Jean-Louis Scherrer added accessories and perfumes to his creations. His fragrances turned women into elegant, strong and mysterious beings and were in no way inferior to his fashion collections in terms of exclusivity and quality.
